'12 Gobelsburger Grüner Veltliner 10/40

'12 Gobelsburger Grüner Veltliner 10/40
Kamptal, Austria
crisp, concentrated, lime

There's lots of delicious, tart fruit right up front when you taste this Grüner. The fruit seemed limey and slightly buttery to me, but some other tasting notes say stone fruit (peach, apricot). The flavor is strong and concentrated, but moderated by the plentiful acidity here. It leaves a crisp, slightly tart finish.

The grapes for this wine come from the Heiligenstein, a famous vineyard in the Kamptal, which in turn is in northeast Austria. The Kamptal is known for Grüner and for Riesling. By law, Kamptal Grüners can't use oak, so this is matured in steel. It's 12.5% ABV.
