Tuscany, Italy
ripe apple, bright, full finish
Teruzzi&Puthod’s winery is located in Tuscany, on the marvellous hills of San Gimignano, in the province of Siena.
This particular wine is a blend of Chardonnay, Vernaccia and Sauvignon grapes.
Vernaccia tends to produce crisp acidic wines that have a touch of bitterness on the finish. It is a native grape to Italy recently receiving its DOCG status in San Gimignano.
The Terruzi & Puthod has a classification of a IGT (Indicazione geografica tipica). This wines are not held to the stricter standards of DOC or DOCG laws. If you have ever heard the term 'Super Tuscan' these wines generally fall into the IGT status.
In fact some of the most famous Italian wines, most sought after wines fall into this category. In a small way we could consider this wine a white 'Super Tuscan' (of course without the price tag associated with Sassicaia or Tignanello)
Tasting Notes: This wine is a nicely balanced between the full mouth feel of the Chardonnay with the crisp acidity of the Vernaccia & Sauvignon. It is still soft on the palate with a lengthy finish.
There are some intense fruity aromas and a slight hint of toast and oak on the finish.
