'13 Vevi 9/36 (will replace the Pinot Nero)

'13 Vevi
Rueda, Spain
citrus, aromatic, clean

The wine region Rueda is located in the heart of Spain. It is high in elevation and possesses a continental climate with wide shifts between very warm days and cold nights.

Rueda has a long tradition of winegrowing and is the ancestral home for the noble Verdejo grape. Verdejo makes one of the most distinctive white wines in all of Spain and is classified as a DO (Denominación de Origen) in Rueda.

Vevi is a blend of 80% Verdejo and 20% Viura.  Viura can also be known as Macabeo which is the main grape of white Rioja as well as one of the primary grapes of Cava.

Tasting Notes: Fresh with crisp acidity, citrus fruits, peaches, subtle minerality, light to medium bodied, round texture, and a clean lingering finish.  This is definitely the 'go to wine' if someone is inquiring as to a Sauvignon Blanc.
