Brooklyn Summer Ale 5/18

Description: Brooklyn Summer Ale is a modern rendition of the "Light Dinner Ales" brewed in England throughout the 1800's right up until the 1940's. They were also called "luncheon ales" or even "family ales", because they were refreshing and flavorful without being too heavy. We brew our Brooklyn Summer Ale from premium English barley malt, which gives this light-bodied golden beer a fresh bready flavor. German and American hops lend a light crisp bitterness and a citrus/floral aroma, resulting in a beer with a very sunny disposition.

Review: It has a light golden honey colored body with good clarity and a few bubbles of visible carbonation here and there. From the pour it produces an average size white foamy head that slowly settles down to a soft, creamy, thin film covering. Lacing is slick and spotty on the glass. There are notes of bready and biscuity maltiness with some clover honey like sweetness mingling with mellow citrusy (orange/lemon) and herbal hops. The flavor has a very drinkable medium body with a good balance of hops and malt. I get a lovely mix of sweet buttery dinner roll like malty notes with a touch of honey and soft citrusy and herbal hops. The finish is just enough hop bitterness to keep everything in check and interesting. The texture is very smooth with soft carbonation.

ABV: 4.5%
