'11 Naveran Brut Vintage 8/32
Penedes, Spain
crisp, lean, bright
Possibly the least expensive vintage sparkling wine going, this is a crisp and lean Cava. It's not yeasty or creamy, so I like it as a warm-weather sparkling option. It shows tasty citrus fruit, is a little briny, and has a clean, slightly tart finish. The perlage (bubbles) is good; Naveran uses the Champagne method for even this inexpensive wine.
Cava means "cave," where these wines were originally aged. The producers adopted the name "Cava" for the wine in the 1970, trying to distinguish them from Champagne.
Grapes: 50% Xarello, 30% Macabeo, and 20% Parellada. These are the standard Cava grapes
