Montalcino, Italy
cherry, floral, un-oaked
"La Velona" produces three different typologies of wines: the famous "Brunello di Montalcino", Brunello is a world sought after wine. They are a symbol of Montalcino and of the excellence of Italy in the wine world.
The wonderful "Rosso di Montalcino" (aka baby Brunello)
And the "Sant'Antimo", that takes its name by the nearby Sant.Antimo's Abbey.
All three of these wines are made with the ever so popular Italian grape varietal Sangiovese Grosso and are produced in the region Montalcino which is a commune of Tuscany.
"La Velona" Sant'Antimo is not as rich and brooding as either Brunellos or Rossos rather it has a softer and more delicate profile. There are definitely notes of bright cherry with a hint of floral undertones. This wine is completely un-oaked.
It is still light enough for warm Texas days but will certainly help us transition into our fall months as well.
