Live oak's current seasonal offering is a berliner weisse. You may remember this style of beer from the ABW Einhorn. Berliner Weisse is a style that dates back five centuries, nearly becoming obsolete altogether, before a handful of American breweries took upon a self-imposed challenge to recreate a refreshing, low-alcohol, sour ale that resembled the flavor profile of tart lemonade. The sour notes on this beer might not be for everyone but for those that are familiar with this style, this is a great offering.
From the brewery: Berliner Weisse is a special beer that undergoes bacterial fermentation to naturally produce lactic acid which contributes a delicious, lemony tartness. This traditional wheat ale, made famous in the nineteenth century in the city of Berlin, features a bready malt character, low bitterness, and effervescent carbonation. Clean, tart, and quenching, this beer is available in limited quantities to be enjoyed.
ABV: 3.2%
